A lot of us are working from home due to the COVID pandemic. Staying productive and energized can be a task in itself when the workload is low. Even if your workload has increased while working remotely, there’s no explicit motivation to keep up with your regular womanly routine.
Keep up with yourself. Self-care has a direct effect on your productivity, health, and mood. Try my five tips below to get you energized even if your 9-5 is at home…
Keep up with your weekly planner. Make sure you’re sectioning time for work or school, virtual communication with friends and family, and personal self-care or downtime.
Maintain a consistent bedtime. A highly functioning woman needs time to rest her mind and body. One night of inadequate sleep can have you mentally and physically disheveled; throwing your energy and productivity off for days.
Eat well. I know it’s a tedious task heading to the grocery store but eating well consists of eating healthy fresh foods. While its easier to order food right now, what’s easy isn’t always best. The only way to ensure you’re eating healthy is to cook for yourself. Keep in mind, Eating well isn’t simply eating healthy food. Eating well also consists of eating in a timely manner. Eating too late or right before bed is not serving your body well. Proper fueling and when it’s needed is vital to feeling energized and agile for the day.
Keep an exercise routine. Some ladies are used to group classes. Others find it hard to exercise outside of the gym. I implore you to find 30 mins every day to do something active. YOU NEED IT! Being cooped up in the house is hard, but most areas permit brief walks around your neighborhood if social distancing can be maintained. If not, YouTube is free! Find 10 to 20-minute workouts to do at home. It gets your blood flowing, stretches you out, and keeps your body limber.
Get Dressed! I know, it sounds silly but trust me. Rolling out of bed in your pajamas and hopping on your computer may seem appealing at first, but eventually, it will put you in a productivity funk. I’m not saying to wear your business casual or professional dress for your audio-only Zoom meeting, but do make an effort to put real clothes on soon after you wake up in the morning. Nice loungewear or everyday clothes should suffice. ANYTHING but bedclothes. Nightwear all day subconsciously makes you too comfortable. Just because we’re working from home doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be on our toes. What you wear does have subtle effects on your mood and mindset.
