Figuring out what you’re going to wear! As a former freelance stylist, I found that no matter how much I helped my clients, they weren’t successfully curating a daily look because they did one (or unfortunately all) of the three things below.
You don’t plan your outfits beforehand. Yes, it’s may seem childish but it’s an exercise that makes life easier during the week. Don’t wait until the morning to figure out what you’re going to wear, especially if you're not good at putting outfits together or if you are new to creating a professional look.
You don’t have the basics. What does that mean? You don’t have the fundamental pieces necessary to have a functional workwear wardrobe. I go into a deeper discussion about the Basics here below.
3. You have a closet full of clothes but no outfits, so you have a false sense of wardrobe utility. This usually happens when you buying without tracking what you already have versus what you really need. Clean out your closet and take inventory. If you need to section out your wardrobe for workwear and casual wear do it! It will alleviate confusion, wasted time, and money.

Wasting your money on fast fashion.
A lot of fast fashion stores like H&M, Zara, Express, have you wondering the stores every week to see what’s marked down or every other week to see their new collections. They’re getting first dibs on your paycheck every Friday.
When shopping for work clothes you have to make sure yore looking for clothes that are functional and have a professional taste. Stores are focused on fashion and trends for a quick profit. If you’re constantly buying trendy fashionable clothes, you won’t have anything in your closet that has professional functionality and taste.
The older you get, the less you need or should invest in trendy clothes. Working and commuting for 40 hours a week doesn’t allow for an extensive trendy closet. Let’s think critically about it. When do you really have time in your adult life to wear all these trends? Why are you spending so much on them?
